The Beaumaris RNLI lifeboat was busy on Saturday (31 October) after being called out to two separate incidents.
At 6.22am, the volunteer crew at the RNLI’s lifeboat station at Beaumaris were called out to assist police and coastguards at an incident involving a despondent man on the dock walls at Victoria Dock, Caernarfon.
On arrival at the scene the Beaumaris inshore lifeboat found the dock gates were shut so put two of the RNLI crew ashore in readiness, should their assistance be required in the water. After involvement with a police negotiator, the man later boarded an ambulance and was taken to hospital. The Beaumaris inshore lifeboat was stood down at 8.10am and returned to the station.
The second launch came when the crew were called out at 2.54pm to assist a 24’ motorboat, which had broken down off the west of Puffin Island. The boat had fouled its propeller on a lobster pot and, as a consequence, suffered engine failure and was drifting towards the rocks.
The Beaumaris inshore lifeboat was called out by the Coastguard and towed the boat, with the three male crew on board, to Porth Daniel at Menai Bridge. The lifeboat returned to the station at 4.50pm.
