Two calls for Flint Lifeboat

Flint RNLI lifeboat volunteers responded to two incidents this morning. For the first incident the lifeboat Crew were put on standby by Liverpool Coastguard just after 7am following a request from the police. A man had walked into the River Dee on the Greenfield side of Flint Castle, and was refusing to leave,following a request from the Coastguard the lifeboat volunteers launched at 8.15am.

Shortly after launching, it was learnt that the man had walked ashore, and had been taken into custody by the police. Alan Forrester RNLI volunteer operations manager for Flint commented:

‘We are experiencing high tides at the moment, and had the man had stayed in the water he could easily have been swept away.’

The lifeboat was stood down at 8.25am, and almost immediately Liverpool Coastguard requested assistance to search for a boy missing missing from Neston since Sunday morning. The RNLI lifeboat and its volunteers crew arrived on scene at 8.35am and then carried out a shoreline search of Neston marshes, both by sea and from the land.

The RNLI Flint lifeboat crew were stood down by Liverpool Coastguard a 9.45am, and the lifeboat was back at the lifeboat station ready for service at 10.20am. Alan Forrester commented, this is proving to be a busy day, and we also have the children from Chernobyl visting the station later this morning.
