Detectives investigating an assault in Cardiff city centre during the early hours of Saturday, September 24 have made two arrests.
They are also appealing for a key witnesses seen near the incident to come forward.
Two men from the Caerphilly area – one aged 18 from Senghenydd and another aged 19 from Abertridwr – were arrested on Saturday, October 1 on suspicion of assault.
They were questioned over the weekend and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
Daniel Edwards, 27, was assaulted in Park Place near the entrance of the Park Hotel at around 1.50am sustaining head injuries.
He was taken to the high dependency unit at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where his condition is currently described as stable.
It is believed an altercation began in Burger King, on Queen Street.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Wales said: “Daniel and his family have been updated regarding the two arrests which took place over the weekend.
“I would like to thank the members of the public who responded to our previous press appeals and contacted us about this incident.
“Despite these arrests, the investigation is still very much on-going and we are still appealing for witnesses. In particular we wish to trace a black male, aged 18 to 21, 5ft 10in tall, skinny build with a shaven head. He was wearing a dark satchel over his shoulder, a dark jumper and blue jeans.
“It is believed this individual was within close proximity of the assault and is therefore a key witness to this incident. I must streets he is considered a witness, not a suspect, and urge him to come forward.”
