Barmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 16.27hrs on Saturday 29th May in response to a request from the coastguard.
Two men from Dudley in the West Midlands were fishing approximately 300 metres off Barmouth beach when one of them became very ill with seasickness. Because of the moderate westerly wind the sea was quite choppy. Also due to the state of the tide and the rough conditions, the powerboat could not be taken over the Bar and returned to Barmouth Harbour.
Eventually the two men on board the power boat called for assistance and the lifeboat was launched. The two casualties were taken on board the lifeboat and landed on the shoreline where they were met by the coastguard and taken to the lifeboat station.
The boat was put at anchor, but shortly after the men were safely ashore and the lifeboat had returned to the boathouse, the powerboat washed up on the shore. The lifeboat crew returned to the shoreline and assisted with placing the vessel on to its trailer.
