Two teenagers were rescued this afternoon (Wednesday) by RNLI lifeguards at Freshwater West beach. The charity’s lifeguards spotted the teenagers in difficulty as they was bodyboarding in the sea.
RNLI lifeguards at the Freshwater West unit spotted the boys in trouble at 1.30pm. RNLI lifeguard Sam Trevor paddled out to their assistance and brought them ashore on the rescue board.
One of the teenagers, had swallowed a lot of water and had a low breathing rate. RNLI lifeguards gave the casualty oxygen and provided first aid until the ambulance arrived. The teenager’s condition improved after receiving oxygen and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The second casualty was fit and well.
