Literature Wales believes that literature belongs to everybody and can be found everywhere. That’s why this year Tŷ Newydd Writers’ Centre has something for everyone – readers, writers, poets and explorers.
A brand new and vibrant programme has been prepared, full of courses and events. There are courses on scriptwriting for TV, radio and the stage, for gaming, blogging, food writing and nature. Courses on developing cinematic poems, for singer-songwriters, and for illustrators. Whether you prefer the written or the spoken word, poetry or prose – there’s something in the programme for you.
Tutors for the 2014 courses include all three of Wales’ laureates – National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke, Young People’s Laureate of Wales, Martin Daws and Bardd Plant Cymru, Aneirin Karadog. The programme also features Wales Book of the Year 2013 winner, Rhian Edwards, and the winner of the 2013 Welsh Music Prize, Georgia Ruth. Other names include Daniel Morden, Robert Minhinnick, Pascale Petit and Damian Walford Davies.
For families, Tŷ Newydd is creating a poetry treasure hunt, and a series of intricately designed benches celebrating some of our most influential literary figures. There’ll be a path to follow, objects to find and interpret, connections to make while enjoying the stunning surroundings and gardens. A Literature Lounge has also been created in the house, a cosy room for local creative writing and reading groups to meet.
For anyone wanting to start the New Year in a creative way, the courses are now open for booking. The full 2014 programme is available digitally on www.tynewydd.org or contact Tŷ Newydd for a print version: 01766 522811 / [email protected]
