Tywyn coastal defence scheme – public exhibition

A public exhibition will be held at Neuadd Pendre in Tywyn on 15 February to raise awareness about the flood protection work completed in the town last year and to provide information about the effects of flooding in the area.

Gwynedd Council completed work on the £7.6 million coastal defence scheme which was funded by the Welsh Government and the European Regional Development Fund in Tywyn last year which has reduced the risk of annual flooding for around 80 properties in the area.

The public exhibition at Neuadd Pendre from 10.30am to 4pm on Wednesday, 15 February will allow members of the public to view drawings and photographs of the completed scheme and engineers from the Council’s Consultancy Department will also be on-hand to discuss the project as well as the residual risk of flooding in the area.

In addition, officers from the Environment Agency Wales will be at the event to provide advice to members of the public regarding the effects of flooding. Representatives from the building industry body Construction Skills will also be present to give advice to anyone who might want further information regarding the possibility of pursuing a career in the industry.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the event at Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn from 10.30am to 4pm on Wednesday, 15 February 2012.
