North Wales Assembly Member Mark Isherwood has been advised by Post Office Ltd this week that Mynydd Isa Post Office in Flintshire will not be reopening on June 9th as they had originally stated.
Mr Isherwood received confirmation from Post office Ltd last week that the Post Office, which is housed in the Spar supermarket, would be reopening next Monday with a temporary Subpostmaster on the same site and with the same opening hours, products and services.
However, yesterday (Tuesday) he received a further email from Post office Ltd stating that due to “unforeseen circumstances” it will now not be reopening on that date.
The email states: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are now unable to reopen the Post Office on 9th June with a temporary Subpostmaster as planned. I can only apologise to you and our customers for the temporary closure of this Post Office and reassure you that we are working to reopen the Post Office as soon as possible.”
Mr Isherwood said:
“This is very disappointing news. Having been in regular communication with Post Office Ltd over the 3rd June closure of Mynydd Isa Post Office, I was delighted last week when they informed me that it would definitely be reopening on 9th June.
“Post Office services are vital to local communities and I hope Post Office Ltd are true to their word and reopen Mynydd Isa Post Office as soon as possible.”
