Responding to the statement by the Education Minister on leadership at the University of Wales, Angela Burns AM, Shadow Minister for Education, said:
“The once prestigious international reputation of the University of Wales has been rocked by the recent series of scandals.
“University of Wales graduates, students and staff are rightly angry and upset that ineffective leadership and a lack of robust scrutiny of operations have brought a once cherished institution to its knees.
“The individuals responsible must be held to account for their failings, which have damaged the reputation of the entire Welsh Higher Education sector.
“The University of Wales now needs drastic reform to establish a future role in complementing Wales’ Higher Education institutions.”
