A charity is urgently in need of volunteers in North and Mid Wales to carry out collections over the next few weeks.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is appealing for people to give up an hour of their time to collect funds for the annual Great Daffodil Appeal in Rhyl, Welshpool, Newtown, Caernarfon, Llandudno, Mold, Abergele, Wrexham, Holywell, Colwyn Bay, Bangor, Porthmadog, Denbigh, Llangollen, Flint, St Asaph, Ruthin and Prestatyn.
Please see long list below of exact dates and venues for your particular area.
“We are desperate for volunteers,” said Debbie Rowley, Community Fundraiser for mid and north Wales.
People get a daffodil to wear in support of Marie Curie Nurses in return for their donation. All money raised helps Marie Curie Cancer Care provide free nursing care for people with cancer and other terminal illnesses in their own homes and the charity’s hospices.
“Marie Curie Cancer Care’s services are free to patients, their families and carers but the charity can only provide these with your support.
“Your valuable time in collecting donations will be turned into providing essential nursing care for terminally ill people,” said Debbie.
Volunteers can also organise collections or help out at their local fundraising office in Rhyl or distribute daffodil boxes to shops, schools, pubs and community centres. Volunteers can call the Daffodil Hotline on 0845 601 3107 or contact local co-ordinator Debbie Rowley on 01745 352912 or 07798638074.
The Great Daffodil Appeal has become one of the UK’s biggest ‘flag days’, with around four million daffodils handed out each year.
