Vale anti-bullying competition winners in rap-tures

Three schools in the Vale are celebrating after their imaginative raps were picked as the top entries in the Vale Council’s anti-bullying competition.

This year the competition, run by the council’s Primary Behaviour Improvement Team, asked schools to write a rap with music and lyrics, with the winners announced during Anti-bullying Week.

The winner of the Key Stage 1 competition was Dinas Powys Infants’ School. The Key Stage 2 winner was St Joseph’s Primary School in Penarth, with the School Council at High Street Primary in Barry as runner-up.

Cllr Anthony Hampton, cabinet member for education and lifelong learning, and the Primary Behaviour Improvement team visited all the winners to congratulate them and present certificates and cash prizes to the pupils to spend on items for their schools.

Cllr Hampton said: “Many congratulations and thanks to all the staff and pupils who worked so hard to raise the profile of anti-bullying within the Vale by entering the competition. Tackling bullying is very important and it was inspiring to see such positive ideas. The entries were imaginative and thought-provoking and showed some real star quality! Well done to all.”
