The Bishop of Monmouth, Rt Revd Dominic Walker OGS, has appointed Revd Marian Dowsett, Vicar of Llanrumney, to be an Honorary Canon of Newport Cathedral. She will be installed on Sunday 6th December at 6.30pm.
Announcing the appointment, Bishop Dominic Walker said:
‘I am pleased to appoint the Revd Marian Dowsett as an Honorary Canon of Newport Cathedral in recognition of her ministry as a priest who has served for the over 20 years in Rumney, St Mellons and Llanrumney. Marian has been heavily involved in working with other churches in east Cardiff and also in working for peace and justice for the Palestinian people. She was among the first women in the Church in Wales to be ordained as a deacon and then as a priest.’
