Two staff from the Media Resources department at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff have been recognised for their excellence in imagery by the BioCommunications Association (BCA).
BioImages is an annual visual media competition organised by BCA that showcases the finest still, graphics and motion media work in the life sciences and medicine.
Nikki Kelley, clinical photographer, was awarded a Citation of Merit for her image of a ‘Epidermoid Cyst’. Nikki also had her image of a ‘Myxoid Cyst’, accepted in the BioImages 2016 Salon Gallery show.
Carl Rogers, videographer, produced a short video of ‘Teddy’s Story’ which was selected by judges to be displayed in the BioImages 2016 Salon Gallery show.
Entries are judged on impact, composition, clarity, technique, lighting, image quality, presentation, creativity, originality and effective use of the medium to fulfil its stated purpose.
Matt Temby, Director of Operations for the Clinical Diagnostics and Therapeutics Clinical Board said: “I feel really proud that our staff have been recognised at the BioImages annual visual media awards.
“Being nominated for and winning commendations such as these shows that our staff are being recognised on an international scale for the work they provide in capturing first-class stills and video for the Health Board.
“I’d like to say “well done” to Nikki and Carl.”
