Staff at Swansea Council are continuing to provide vital services during the snow and icy conditions.
Social services and housing are among the departments where staff are going the extra mile to make sure those people most in need of support are getting all the assistance they need in the cold snap.
All Swansea Council’s care homes are open and remained open at the weekend after some staff in some of the homes volunteered to stay on site rather than go home themselves.
Day care and mental health care services are closed today (Monday).
Home care and community meals services are being prioritised initially for the most vulnerable and both the Council and the independent sector are striving to ensure the vast majority of people who depend on the services get support.
All District Housing Offices are now closed and Corporate Building Services staff are providing an emergency service to residents.
Swansea Council’s gritting teams were in action overnight and will be out gritting main roads later this evening. Highways crews are also working with emergency services to ensure black spots are dealt with and that the potential for accidents is reduced.
Refuse vehicles were out collecting this morning (Monday) but the service has been suspended due to the hazardous conditions. Residents are being advised not to put out waste bags for collection until further notice.
Bus companies have suspended all services in Swansea and, although conditions on site are very difficult, burial services are going ahead.
All Swansea libraries are now closed but several had been open until 2pm.

The Waterfront Winterland in the grounds of the National Waterfront Museum is operating but the public should call 01792 637300 before setting out.
The Grand Theatre is open and the Snow White panto is going ahead as planned.
Plantasia is closed. The National Waterfront Museum was open until 4pm and the Dylan Thomas Centre was open until 4.30pm.
