Weatherman knitting

TV weatherman Derek Brockway will be in Milford Haven next week (27th January) challenging you to try something new at your local library.

Derek – together with television and radio presenter Sara Edwards – is visiting the town’s library at Cedar Court on the Haven’s Head Business Park on Thursday, 27th January, as part of the Welsh Libraries Festival entitled ‘Fancy That….’

During the ten-day event which starts tomorrow (Thursday, 20th January) lots of events for families are happening in libraries all across Wales.

Derek said: “I’ve been set a challenge to try something new at different libraries across Wales. At Milford I will be learning to knit with a group of local people – I can’t wait!

“It just goes to show that libraries offer much more than books and cater for all types of hobbies and interests.”

Pembrokeshire County Councillor Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for Cultural Services, said both Derek and Sara were assured of a warm welcome in Milford.

“We are delighted to be part of the Welsh Libraries Festival. It’s a wonderful opportunity to raise people’s awareness of what libraries have to offer. There’s something for everyone and all ages and interests are welcome”.

As well as knitting, Derek will also be spending time with a group of over 55s who are learning how to use computers.

Heritage Minister, Alun Ffred Jones, said: “Libraries are at the heart of the communities they serve, offering something for everyone. The festival is a great opportunity for the whole family to try something new and to bring libraries to the forefront of people’s minds.
