Last weekend Theatr na n’Óg’s, The Bankrupt Bride, drew to a close with three sell out nights at Theatr Clwyd. But as the show ended, a ten-day online auction of donated Wedding Dresses began.
The tour has been great success for Theatr na n’Óg with record audience numbers in venues across Wales and London for the company. They sold out on several nights including Swansea, Cardiff and Mold. The success of the show has been a reflection of the commitment to developing high quality new work in Wales that runs through the core of Theatr na n’Óg.
The play is a new musical comedy written by Kath Chandler, with music by renowned composer Dyfan Jones and performed live on stage by his three-piece band The Wedding Singers. The brilliant cast include the best of Welsh talent as well as West End performers.
With great performances, a beautifully detailed set and brilliant costumes this production is the most successful tour yet from Neath based Theatr na n’Óg and has won excellent reviews.
Alongside the tour they have been running a unique fundraising event for Cancer Research UK. Audiences have been donating Wedding Dresses from all over the UK to the show, which after appearing as part of the set are to be auctioned off.
The dresses are available on E-Bay until the December 1. With 22 dresses from across the country, including three Stewart Parvin designer dresses worth up to £2,000, this is a great chance to get the perfect dress for the perfect price.
