Vale of Clwyd AM, Ann Jones has thoroughly welcomed a £2.3 million package designed to boost and improve the deliverance of science in schools across Wales.
Ms Jones said: “It is clear that this Labour government is committed to driving up standards of science in our primary and secondary schools across the length and breadth of Wales. The introduction and implementation of this £2.3 million package will help in ensuring that schools and students will be prepared and ready for the PISA tests in 2015.
“Not only is this a milestone in government education policy but also in the wider field of science in general as it has the support of the Chief Scientific Advisor for Wales.
“That at a time in politics where education policy is up in the air in the UK, the Welsh Government is committed to investing in a lasting education package for the people of Wales is very welcome”.
The £2.3 million package by the First Minister outlined that the funding package would equate to £600,000 per annum being delivered until 2016. Included in the £600,000 per annum deal are resources for teaching, materials, skills and for the improvement of overall knowledge
A further £380,000 is to be invested in schools to enhance the provision of science and mathematics.
