The Welsh Local Government Association congratulates Wales’ pupils today on another excellent year for GCSE results which has seen the performance gap between Wales and the rest of the UK narrowed in the top grades.
Cllr Peter Fox (Monmouthshire), WLGA Spokesperson for Lifelong Learning said:
“Today’s GCSE results show once again that standards are improving and I would like to say well done to all those pupils who have received their results today. This is evidence of the hard work that has been put in by pupils, teachers, schools and local authorities across Wales.”
“I am particularly pleased to see that the gap in GCSE performance between Wales and the rest of the UK has been cut in the top grades and hope to see this trend continue in the future.”
