Wepre Park got a spring clean-up recently, thanks to The Friends of Wepre Park and other local residents, who turned out to help Flintshire County Council’s Countryside Rangers.
Over a two day period, almost 100 bags of rubbish and five bins of recycling were collected by 31 people, who worked hard litter picking the main areas of the park.
The Sunday event was a joint clean up with the Friends, and Monday was a ‘Remember your a Womble’ event from our guide – a clean up and recycle day, where everyone was invited to come along and help.
Nic Sheerin, Chair of the Friends group, said: “It was great to see such a good turn out for our first ‘Friends’ event of 2012 and lovely to see the park looking so nice afterwards.“
Tim Johnson, Countryside Ranger said: “It was a fantastic effort by the Friends and the whole community and a real help in getting rid of so much accumulated litter. We’d like to thank all those who worked so hard to give the Park its much needed Spring Clean!”
