Don’t be put off by scaffolding and hard hats, Swansea museum is very much open for business.
Works to install a lift for the disabled at the Victoria Road building should be completed by November, but there’s no reason not to see the popular crime and punishment exhibition, local archaeology displays and the ancient Egyptian mummy.
The Museum Collection Centre at Landore is also still open every Wednesday from 10am to 4pm.
A small section of the Museum’s Glamorgan and Ynysmedyw pottery collection has been temporarily relocated to the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery while the works take place.
All items transferred were selected with the help of local Welsh ceramics expert Helen Hallesy and can be seen at the gallery until the end of October.
Councillor Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said the works would improve access for all at the museum.
He added: “Swansea Museum offers a fascinating peek into local history as well as a range of exhibitions and displays that are entertaining and informative for people of all ages.”
