Wesley Methodist Church in Caerphilly has successfully applied for £178,522 of Community Facilities and Activities Programme (CFAP) funds from the Welsh Government for essential repair and conservation work.
CFAP is a competitive grant scheme operated by the Welsh Government to help community and voluntary organisations provide facilities or carry out activities which will promote the regeneration of communities. Successful grant recipients have submitted well developed projects that have the support of the local community.
Caerphilly AM Jeff Cuthbert (pictured) said:
‘This is wonderful news for Wesley Church! The Church, which opened in 1930, often hosts special events such as social evenings, choir concerts, mother and toddler groups, charity events and is a bit of a cultural centre for the area. The application process for CFAP funding is very rigorous and I have no doubt that they will invest and use this money for the benefit of the wider community.’
CFAP was launched in 2002 and to date has funded 831 projects totalling over £92 million.
