A Mold business’s support for a local drama workshop has been recognised at a national Welsh awards ceremony.
West Coast Energy were announced as finalists in the Arts, Business and Long Term Support Award category at the Arts & Business Cymru Awards, held at a star studded event in Cardiff on the 9th May.
Arts & Business Cymru highlighted West Coast Energy’s ten year support for the FUSE workshop for children and young people with additional needs. In April the company celebrated its ongoing support with an anniversary reception for parents, friends and local councillors.
The awards judges said they were struck by the depth of the relationship between West Coast Energy and the theatre, and noted that the work of FUSE would not be possible without the support from the company.
Steve Salt, Planning and Public Affairs Director, said:
“Supporting the local community is at the heart of what we do, so we’re delighted to have been recognised by Arts & Business Cymru for our work with FUSE. The FUSE team do a huge amount for helping young people with additional needs in Flintshire, and we are very proud of our contribution towards making that happen.”
Rachel Jones, CEO of Arts & Business Cymru, said:
“West Coast Energy’s long term and staunch support of Clwyd Theatr Cymru has made a tangible difference to the lives of the FUSE participants for many years. It is an inspiring example of what can be achieved when business and the arts work together in true partnership.”
Unfortunately West Coast Energy narrowly missed out on winning the award itself, which was scooped by the Principality Building Society and their 35 year sponsorship of the National Eisteddfod. West Coast Energy also sponsored the Arts, Business & the Environment category at the awards, which was won by Renault Cardiff.
