Ever fancied wading through water aerobics, shaping up in spin or getting flexible in fitball?
This Thursday (August 5) between 10am and 3pm Western Leisure Centre will open its doors for a special programme of activities jam packed with something for all ages.
Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a fitness fanatic, the centre is offering something for all the family and the chance to come and get involved absolutely free of charge!
Activities range from a 5-a-side football competition for the under tens, soft play sessions for the tots and adult taster exercise classes.
The facility in Ely was refurbished and reopened in November 2008.
As well as offering a wide range of activities for all different levels of fitness there is also a fully equipped gymnasium, three different size swimming pools, several indoor courts for football and racquet sports and an outdoor multi use games area.
Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Nigel Howells, said: “This is a fantastic facility which has benefitted from a wonderful refurbishment. The free community fun day is a great incentive to get people into the leisure centre and promote an active and healthy lifestyle. We welcome everyone from the local area and from all over the city to drop in and try out the many activities on offer”.

The Max Card is available to all Cardiff residents receiving one of a range of benefits or between 16 – 18 years old and in full time education.
The annual card offers discounts off varied leisure activities, up to 50 per cent at Council owned facilities and up to 30 per cent at a number of private partners.
Some of the facilities you can use the card include leisure centres and pools, community halls as well as other partners such as St David’s Hall, Cardiff Castle, Cineworld and Techniquest as well as many more.
