With the festive season fast approaching, Flintshire County Council’s Licensing team is reminding people of the simple steps to take to avoid getting into an unlicensed vehicle.
- Only Hackney Carriages (London Style Cabs) can be hailed down from the street
- Private Hire Vehicles must be pre-booked
- Hackney Carriages display a white rectangular shaped rear licence plate
- Private Hire Vehicles display a long rectangular rear plate, and states how many passengers the vehicle may carry
- Licensed vehicles must have a windscreen licence, which displays the number of the vehicle and the expiry date
- Licensed vehicles must display door signs on the vehicle, stating the name of the Operator
- All licensed Private Hire / Hackney Carriage drivers will be wearing an ID badge
- If you get in to an unlicensed vehicle, there will not be sufficient insurance to cover you in the event of an accident
All drivers licensed by Flintshire County Council have an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure, and undergo a medical examination to Group II standard.
All Private Hire Operators are also CRB checked and abide by a set of conditions.
A list of all licensed Private Hire Operators can be found on www.flintshire.gov.uk/licensing, and choosing the ‘Private Hire Operators’ option, or by choosing ‘licensing registers’ in the useful links column.
