Welsh Conservatives today praised the excellence of Welsh food and the growing range of high quality food companies, many of which are exhibiting in the expanded Royal Welsh Show food hall.
Speaking from the showground, Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs Brynle Williams AM said:
“The excellence of Welsh food is here for all to see and taste.
“Enormous progress has been made by high value and niche Welsh producers.
“From my own constituency in North Wales, I can highlight a number of great success stories, like Llaeth-y-Llan Dairy, which has been shortlisted for a prize here at the Show for the outstanding contribution it makes to its local community.
“I can add to that the achievements of Elwy Valley Lamb, and Rhug Estate organic farm who have supplied the very best London restaurants.”
Mr Williams also stressed the importance of reliable provenance for the broader red meat and dairy market:
“Welsh Conservatives have long campaigned for honest food labelling.
“I am happy to give my full support to the Women’s Institute campaign for clear and mandatory country of origin labelling.”
