Welsh Conservatives have welcomed the Rural Affairs Minister’s decision to extend the Tir Mynydd scheme.
Commenting on the decision which will see the continuation of Tir Mynydd payments at 60% for a further 2 years, Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs Brynle Williams AM said:
“I welcome the Minister’s confirmation of these arrangements. I am relieved that she listened to the concerns raised by both AMs and the agricultural industry.
“I am also delighted that she has taken on my suggestions over wildlife corridors and amendments will now be made to this important element.
“I would now call on the Minister and her colleagues to ensure that farmers are aware of the importance of stating their intentions on their Single Farm Payment (SFP) forms, to ensure that they are able to access Tir Mynydd payments in a timely manner.
“I have also sought assurances from the Minister that new entrants joining the Glastir scheme will not encounter delays in receiving payments through the SFP scheme.”
