Commenting on today’s Assembly decision to outlaw the use of electronic shock collars for dogs and cats in Wales, Shadow Rural Affairs Minister Brynle Williams AM said:
“Electric shock collars are no substitute for proper training and discipline. There is no quick fix substitute.
“It is paramount people remember that when they purchase a dog in particular they have a responsibility for its welfare and the safety of the public.
“I am delighted other members recognise that these devices should not be in use in Wales. Banning these collars will be in the best interests of animal welfare. It shows Wales leading the way on this important issue.”
