Roger Williams, Lib Dem MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, supported the “Ten Minute Rule Bill” on Sale of Tickets (Sporting and Cultural Events) introduced by Nick Smith MP for Blaenau Gwent and a near constituency neighbour.
Nick Smith highlighted the fact that tickets can be purchased in bulk online for the purpose of selling on at a profit. Tickets for the England – Wales rugby match that will be part of the rugby world cup are already being advertised on secondary sites between £920 and £1725, many times their face value. This means that the genuine fans are unable to buy them at their face value and they are also unable to buy them from touts, because of the hugely inflated price.
Commenting, Roger Williams MP says:
“I was pleased to support Nick Smith MP, because he raises a very important matter for sports and music fans. I will continue to give the Bill my attention and hope that the Government and all parties are able to back this initiative.
“There will be lots of people in Brecon and Radnorshire who would like to see Wales’ victory over England and Nick’s Bill would help them get the tickets at a fair price.”
