Jenny Willott, Welsh Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, has commented following the publication of reports investigating the allegations of sexual abuse and improper conduct by Jimmy Savile in NHS hospitals, which include an investigation into Cardiff Royal Infirmary.
Jenny Willott MP said:
“We have all been appalled by the accounts of truly horrific abuse by Jimmy Savile, but it is also shocking that he was able to get away with these seemingly blatant offences over an extremely long period of time. I want to express my deepest sympathy to all those who have suffered as a result.
“Clearly nothing will be able to right these wrongs, but we must make sure that lessons are learnt and nothing like this can ever happen again in our hospitals. I hope times have changed and we now take much better care of the young women and girls in the care of the NHS.”
