The Welsh Rugby Union have committed to achieving the Equality Standard – A Framework For Sport, with a view to achieving the Standard at Foundation Level by the end of May 2011.
Equality is the term used to describe “equal access” and as rugby is such an integral part of Welsh life, it was felt important that we should help ensure it is accessible to as much of the population as possible regardless of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religious or political belief, age or social background.
Rugby is a diverse sport and people can get involved in many different roles associated with it.
Involvement can bring communities together; have health and economic benefits and impact on the future success of national rugby teams. It is therefore important that as many people as possible have access to rugby and its associated benefits. For more information about the Standard click the following link www.equalitystandard.org
As part of our ongoing work with equality, we are required to conduct an equal opportunity survey of our key volunteers, coaches, referees and players. The purpose of this is to assess the representation of different groups within those involved in Welsh Rugby and whether more needs to be done to achieve equality of opportunity.
Therefore players and clubs are urged to click on the following link – www.sportstructures.com/wru_general
The company will not have access to individual forms only a composite of results, therefore your personal information will remain confidential and will only be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
In order for them to achieve the standard we need the form to be completed by Friday 4th March 2011 (this will only take approximately 2-3 minutes to complete). They are aware that the survey is sensitive and you are not obliged to answer any of the questions but you must do this by selecting the option ‘do not wish to disclose’ on the form as opposed to not completing it.
The club with most replies by the cutoff date will win a Welsh Rugby shirt signed by the National Welsh Squad to display within the club.
