Winter Olympics and Six Nations on Swansea’s big screen

Winter Olympics fans can keep up with all the action from Vancouver on Swansea city centre’s Big Screen.

The BBC Big Screen in Castle Square is one of 18 sites across the UK showing coverage from Canada.

Highlights, interviews with athletes and video diaries are among the features of the footage.

Olympic news and coverage is available on the Big Screen between 8am and 10pm every day until the closing ceremony on February 28.

Interviews with British skiers such as Chemmy Alcott will be included as well as conversations with icons like Eddie the Eagle and features on Canada and the Vancouver area will also be broadcast.

BBC WalesSwansea Council and the Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) are partners in the Big Screen project.

Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “The Big Screen has been a massive success since its introduction to Swansea city centre thanks to a combination of live broadcasts and interactive games.

“The footage from Vancouver will allow people to enjoy the Winter Olympics with a crowd or simply to catch up with the latest news from Canada while on the move.”

Forthcoming Six Nations rugby action on the Big Screen includes:

* Italy v Scotland on Saturday February 27 at 1.30pm.

* England v Ireland on Saturday February 27 at 4pm.
