An intrepid team of six from Welsh National Opera have completed a challenge to scale the three peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours and have made it back to work in time for today’s Dress Rehearsal of Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg.
The team, made up from WNO Orchestra, Library, MAX department and Company Management, have been training for the mammoth event for months and set off at 6.30pm on Sunday 13th June following rehearsals for the Company’s Summer Season.
The team, lead by Georgina Govier, has beaten its original target to raise £1,600 for the cancer charity Tenovus and is now hoping to raise £2,500. Georgina said:”It was a fantastic team experience – we had a ball. Our team, which included our brilliant drivers from Pegasus, was made up of people with various levels of fitness and abilities and we really pulled together to complete the task in an amazing 23 hours and 38 minutes.”
