Visitors to Ty Mawr country park are in for a treat this Easter as award winning chainsaw carver Simon O’Rourke creates giant bug to install in the Park’s Minibeast Woods.
Simon creates wonderful sculptures from large tree trunks and in this case he will create 3 from trunks up to 2 metres long. What minibeasts Simon will create isn’t known yet but we do know one will definitely be a caterpillar!
Simon will be at the park from 10.00 to 4.00 between the 10 and 13 April and everyone is welcome to see his creations come together.
Simon, who lives in Wrexham, has been producing award winning carvings from standing trees and waste timbers for over 7 years. His background of illustration, graphic design and tree surgery have allowed him to use a heavy duty chainsaw in a uniquely creative way. He has worked with schools, local and national authorities, companies and individuals, producing large and small scale wood sculptures.
Simon, said:
“I am looking forward to working locally and in such a stunning location. I hope lots of visitors come to see the sculptures coming together and I know everyone will enjoy the end result.”
