Construction work has begun on the redevelopment of Flint pavilion. The fitness suite, which includes an additional eight pieces of cardio vascular equipment, is currently being refurbished and is due to open in January 2012.
The development also includes a state of the art ten pin bowling centre, a Pirate Galleon themed children’s adventure soft play area, a four-lane flat green bowling facility, a multi activity studio for fitness and dance classes, and a cafeteria with extended opening hours, which is all scheduled to open in Summer 2012.
The refurbishment of Flint High School changing rooms and sports hall has also now been completed, which will ensure the continued provision of indoor sports in Flint.
Councillor Dennis Hutchinson, Executive Member for Leisure and Public Protection, said:
“We are keen to increase the sporting opportunities and choices for the residents of Flintshire, and the new facilities at Flint pavilion will attract a wide range of Flintshire residents from varying age groups: from toddlers to senior citizens; promoting social cohesion and supporting the community safety agenda.
“I gave a personal commitment to Flintshire residents, in particular the bowling community, who currently have no indoor bowling provision, and I am very pleased that this proposed development will now come to fruition in Summer 2012.”
