This weekend WOW On The Waterfront will be a part of the official countdown to London 2012.
The two-year countdown to the Olympic Games starts on Friday July 23rd and to mark the occasion, hundreds of inspiring events will be taking place across the UK.
Known as ‘Open Weekend’, it is an annual UK-wide celebration counting down to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.It will include over 900 events across the UK – from sport to art, dance to exhibitions.
Cardiff Festival favourite WOW on the Waterfront returns on July 23 and 24 to provide top entertainment for free at Roald Dahl Plass, entertainment starts at 9pm.
With its energetic performance and adrenaline-fuelled aerial performance WOW On The Waterfront is the perfect event to celebrate the Olympics coming to the UK.
This year’s waterfront performance features award-winning Spanish and Argentine company Grupo Puja, who will perform an adrenaline-fuelled aerial performance called K@osmos.
The show features theatre, dance, vertiginous sports, architecture, multimedia and live music.
During the acrobatic air ballet, eight energetic performers swing, spin, bounce and fly, whilst being suspended 150 feet in the air from a giant steel ball.
Also performing at WOW on the Waterfront will be Cardiff’s very own performance group SWICA (South Wales Intercultural Community Arts) who will perform ‘Dragon’- a sensational carnival theatre presentation.
