A national supermarket is making a big difference to local causes and communities across Wrexham.
Assembly Member Lesley Griffiths recently visited Morrisons in Wrexham to discover all about the charity work and good causes they support.
The Wrexham AM met with the store’s Community Champion Sue Rogers. Her role is to engage with the local community and help support local charities, groups and schools.
As a company, Morrisons annually provide thousands of pounds to national and local charities and fundraisers. Each store has their own Community Champion who helps decide which good causes they want to support.
In recent months, Morrisons has helped fundraise for Nightingale House Hospice and the British Heart Foundation. They also regularly provide opportunities for local groups and organisations to bag pack in store, as well as raising money for good causes through staff bake sales.
The Wrexham store, based on Ruthin Road, opened in 2011 and the £25m investment created 350 jobs.
After the visit Lesley Griffiths AM said:
“It was great to meet with Sue and learn about her role as Morrisons’ Community Champion.”
“I discovered the Wrexham store is always keen for local charities, groups and schools to contact them over the possibility of future fundraising opportunities.”
“All the charity work undertaken by Morrisons has had a positive impact in our local community and I congratulate Sue and all of the staff for their fundraising efforts.”
