A new forum dedicated to promoting the Arts in Wrexham has been launched to coincide with this year’s Wrexham Arts Festival. The launch, which was held at Glyndwr University, was attended by members of local Arts groups, as well as representatives from the commercial and education sectors.
Launching the Forum, which was established with the support of Wrexham County Borough Council, Cllr Bob Dutton, OBE, Lead Member for Communities and Performance emphasised the need for groups to work together to increase and attract new audiences.
Christine Dukes, a member of the Forum’s working group, outlined the aims and objectives of the forum, while a presentation of the new ‘Wrexham Arts’ website (www.wrexhamarts.com) was made by David Gray of The Foundry. The website will enable members of the Forum to log on to an events calendar and check what events are being planned in order to avoid future clashes.
Future events will be held in the near future, including arts marketing training seminar and an inaugural meeting of the Forum on May 24th to elect officers and ratify the aims and objectives. For further details visit the website at www.wrexhamarts.com
