Fans of history and heritage should pay a visit to the forthcoming Wrexham Histories Festival. Taking place Friday 4 February and Saturday 5 February at Glyndwr University, the festival tells the story of Wrexham’s community heritage.
The event has been organised by Northern Marches Cymru Partnership, part of Wrexham Council’s economic development department.
Highlights of the festival, which is free to all, will include an exclusive premier of a new animated ‘Battle of Crogen’ film, a re-enactment of Welsh life in the 1400s, and an appearance from the BBC’s Julian Richards of Meet the Ancestors. There will also be performances from traditional Welsh harpist Branka Crowder, the Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir and local company the Ballet Pod, relating the ballad of Edward Owen.
As well as this, the festival will feature displays from local history societies, lectures, hands on archaeology fun and digital stories.
Festival opening hours are Friday 4 February 11am – 7pm and Saturday 5th February 10am – 4pm. A full list of exhibitors and detailed programme of events can be found at www.wrexhamstory.co.uk.
