Local Assembly Member Lesley Griffiths is encouraging Wrexham constituents to participate in the Big Energy Saving Week.
The campaign has entered its third year and runs from Monday 27th January to Saturday 1st February 2014.
Various agencies and organisations such as Citizens Advice, the Energy Saving Trust, the Government and many other voluntary and charitable groups all work together to help residents throughout Wales save energy and money.
As fuel prices continue to rise, the week aims to engage with as many householders as possible to help people cut their fuel bills and receive the financial support they are entitled to.
The theme of this year’s Big Energy Saving Week is ‘check, switch, insulate’ and events and activities are taking place across Wales. The campaign urges householders to check the best tariffs, switch to a cheaper provider if possible and highlights by insulating the cavity walls and loft of an average home, people could save up to £320 per year.
There are also some straightforward energy saving techniques which can be incorporated into everyday life such as washing clothes at 30 degrees, checking car tyre pressures regularly and turning appliances off standby.
Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths said:
“By adopting simple energy saving behaviours to cut fuel bills, the average home in Wales could save up to £250 a year.”
“In the current economic climate, there has never been a more prudent time for households to become more energy efficient and I encourage all Wrexham residents to commit to the campaign and save energy and money in the process.”
