A St David’s Day Charity Concert is to be held at the William Aston Hall on 5th March at 7.30 pm. Cor Godre’r Aran and Dafydd Iwan will top the bill along with performances by children from Wrexham County Welsh Medium Schools.
The evening has been organised by the Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Arwel Gwynn Jones and all proceeds will go to his Charity, “The Year of the Child” which supports 6 children’s charities, Hope House, dynamic, Wrexham Maelor Hospital’s Children’s Ward, Alder hey’s Imagine Appeal, the National Autistic Society Cymru and Barnardo’s Cymru.
The Charity has been supported throughout the year by Sainsbury’s who have held bag packing days and donated proceeds from their flower wrapping service. Sainsbury’s Deputy Store Manager Nick Hughes even donated the sponsorship money he received for taking part in the Great North Run. The Principality Building Society donated china “dragon” piggy banks and offered them to schools around the county borough who have been using them for collections and special events they have held.
The Mayor said:
“Everyone has generously supported the Charity and I would like to thank everyone for their donations which have been gratefully received. I look forward to seeing many people at the concert which I know will be a very enjoyable evening.”
Tickets for the concert are available from Wrexham Tourist Information Centre, 01978 292015 and cost £8.00 for adults and £4.00 for children.
