Could you be the next Andrew Morton? Do you have a best-selling true life story inside you but don’t know where to start? Writing from Life could have the answer. Organised by Literature Wales, this day-long event will bring some of the biggest names in the Welsh book world together with new writers.
Writing from Life: A Day Conference for the Valleys will take place on Saturday 14 May, 10.00 am – 4.00 pm, at Blaenavon Workmen’s Hall.
The unique programme features talks from some of Wales’ best writers, Professor Dai Smith, Howard Marks, Horatio Clare, Tom Anderson, Nia Wyn, Boyd Clack and Caspar Walsh to name only a few. Plus, Katrina Kirkwood freelancer for Breaking Barriers Community Arts Organisation will be running a digital story workshop on how to tell your story in three minutes using text, audio and visual materials.
Literature Wales Chief Executive Officer, Peter Finch will launch the event which aims to encourage new writing talent from Wales.
Professor Dai Smith said: “Some of the most articulate of the literary voices of Wales have always come from the Valleys, so what better than to hear voices like those speaking out in entertaining and maybe provocative ways in the Valleys, and for the people of the Valleys, today.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to turn their stories into money-spinners, create inspiring autobiographies and tell successful travel tales.
Tickets: £10.00 without buffet / £15.00 with buffet.
