One of North Wales’s brightest young businessmen has been nominated for a top award.
Gareth Jones, whose company, Carbon Zero UK, has seen its turnover quadruple in the past 12 months, has been nominated for the Business Person of the Year at the inaugural Free2Network Awards next week.
They will be presented at a glittering black tie occasion at the Quay Hotel and Spa at Deganwy on Friday, October 14.
St Asaph-based Carbon Zero UK specialise in the installation of renewable energy systems for homes and businesses.
Gareth, 29, from Llandudno, is the the youngest ever President of the Federation of Master Builders and was the youngest ever President of the Federation of Master Builders and is currently Chairman of the North Wales branch.
He launched Carbon Zero UK in 2009 and this year expects to achieve a turnover of over £1 million thanks to the surge in interest in ‘green’ energy systems.
He said: “We’re delighted to be nominated for this award. Renewable energy is a very exciting field to be in with new developments almost every day.
“We look to provide a whole range of renewable energy solutions, including solar power, wind turbines, air and ground-source heating, biomass and rainwater harvesting.”
The awards have been launched by Nina Sardar, of business networking organisation Free2Network which organises over 100 networkin events annually across North Wales and Cheshire.
She said: “We wanted to recognise excellence in business not just among members of Free2Network but across thre whole business community.
“There has been a tremendous response and we have a very high standard of nominations and Gareth is exactly the sort of candidate we want for these awards.
“It is important in what are difficult times for business to recognise the tremendous achievements of many business people and organisations and awards like this can give them a boost.”
Gareth Jones is no stranger to awards having been named by Wales Business Insider magazine as one of its top 25 rising stars in 2009 and he was runner-up in the Daily Post Achievement Wales Awards for business person of the year last year.
He said: “The renewables sector is just taking off so much, solar power, air and ground source heating, small scale wind turbines, rainwater harvesting and biomass boilers.
“There are government incentives for solar and for heating and by 2020 every new build will have to be self-sustaining which is very exciting and means a whole new approach to building.
“We recently installed a solar system at Glyndwr University in Wrexham, have recently won a major contract for a hospital in Lancashire and have also installed a solar tracker system at a Macclesfield farm.”
