Members of Caerphilly Youth Forum from across the county borough have been busy raising money for charity in a number of different ways.

Caerphilly Youth Forum is made up of young people aged 11 – 25 who each represent a school, college or community group. The forum meets on a regular basis and allows young people to express their opinions on the matters that are important to them.

The Forum’s chosen charity for this year was Velindre Cancer Centre.

The young people have worked incredibly hard to raise money by holding a cake sale at Ty Penallta on Friday 8th August 2014 in aid of the Youth Forum’s chosen charity and the Mayor’s charities the Royal British legion and Home Start caerphilly.

A bag packing session also took place at Sainsbury’s Pontllanfraith on 19th July which raised £330.

The Forum’s dare devils took part in an abseil off Penallta Rocks on 29th July and the Caerphilly Challenge 9 mile walk on 10th May.

The Youth Forum has raised over £1500 so far this year.

Cllr Mike Prew, Youth Champion for Caerphilly county borough said: I am incredibly proud of the Youth Forum and their achievements so far this year, they are a shining example of what hard work can achieve, and I wish them lots of luck continuing to raise money for their charities.”
