Italian and Israeli students have been visiting Carmarthenshire as part of the Youth in the World exchange project.
Carmarthenshire Youth Service hosted the visit from 43 young people, in Wales to learn about sustainable development through the medium of Youth Work.
The visitors stayed at the Waunifor Centre and Pendine Outdoor Education Centre for 10 days, getting an insight into
Italian, Israeli and Welsh youth culture and how youngsters viewed their countries in relation to cultural issues.
Youth Worker Fiona Beale said: “The young people worked together using experiential education, discussion groups, work shops and intercultural activities, utilising the unique environment of Carmarthenshire and south west Wales.
“They participated in a range of outdoor educational activities such as canoeing, kayaking and rafting down the Teifi River, coasteering in Saint Davids and a visit to St Fagans and the Welsh Assembly Government.
“The exchange encouraged a respect and understanding which helps promote a sense of commonality and world citizenship.”
The Building Bridges Youth Project also took place in the summer – a four-way exchange with Hungary, Belgium, Poland and Wales – to work on European awareness through the medium of outdoor education.
