Pembrokeshire’s top young swimmers took part in a summer skills camp last weekend.
Twenty of the best swimmers from five County clubs pooled their talent at Tenby Leisure Centre on Saturday 26th June.
The training camp was the second in a series of three summer camps organised by Pembrokeshire Leisure – Pembrokeshire County Council’s leisure arm.
It follows three winter camps held at Milford Haven in October, Crymych in January and Pembroke in February.
The nine to 12 year-olds were put through their paces by Paul Dowey, Pembrokeshire Leisure’s swimming development coach
“It’s always exciting to see raw talent come through at this level,” said Paul Dowey. “These young swimmers, and the volunteers who train them, work hard in their respective clubs and it’s wonderful to see their enthusiasm even at the end of a long day skills training!”
The skills camps are designed for youngsters who already swim competitively with their local clubs – Haverfordwest Seals, Milford Haven Tigers, Pembroke & District, Tenby Dolphins and Fishguard Flyers.
Youngsters are selected for the skills squad based on their 200m individual medley event results.
Anyone interested in joining a competitive swimming club should contact their local leisure centre.
