Talented young musicians will be rocking the judges at an alternative music competition taking place this weekend.
Youngsters from schools across the Caerphilly county borough are busy practicing in a bid to clinch the coveted title of ‘Caerphilly Young Contemporary Musician of the Year’.
Vocalists, guitarists, bassists and drummers will take part in the competition on Saturday 21st November at the Caerphilly Music Service offices in Pontllanfraith.
This year the event, which has been arranged in association with AX Music, has attracted a record 142 young hopefuls who are eager to show off their talent before the judges.
Adjudicators will assess the youngsters’ performances during the day before awarding the top prizes of ‘Young Contemporary Singer of the Year’, ‘Young Contemporary Composer of the Year’, and finally the ‘Young Contemporary Musician of the Year 2009’ at 4.30pm.
The prizes will be presented by the Mayor of Caerphilly CBC, Councillor John Evans.
