Youth Council’s Commitment

While many young people in the county were enjoying some free time over the half term holidays, members of the Carmarthenshire Youth Council were busy at work planning their aims on behalf of young people.

The plan of action took place at Ferryside Education Centre where the council discussed how they could help improve school transport, communication, and how they could raise awareness on the rights of the child and how to motivate young people to vote in the forthcoming elections.

Carmarthenshire
Youth Council chairperson said:

“The residential was very productive and we’ve managed to set our goals for the coming months. We’re grateful to all the young people who have reported their concerns to us and we can now work on making a difference.”

Councillor Gwynne Wooldridge, Executive Board Member for Education and Children’s Services added:

“It is very reassuring for young people to know that the Youth Council is working hard behind the scenes to ensure that all young people’s voices are being listened to.

“The days of children should be seen and not heard are well and truly gone and it’s important that young people are fully aware of their rights to have a voice.”
