As part of the ongoing highway improvements in Ystrad Mynach, BT and Welsh Water/Dwr Cymru need to carry out essential works.
The following temporary traffic management arrangements need to be implemented on A472 Nelson Road and Caerphilly Road commencing on Monday 20th June 2011:
BT works on Caerphilly Road, Ystrad Mynach
From Monday 20th June for a period of 2 weeks the southbound lane will be closed from the Royal Oak roundabout onto Caerphilly Road. This will continue to allow northbound traffic movement along Caerphilly Road. Two way traffic on Caerphilly Road will be maintained up to and south of the entrance to Trinity Fields School/Penallta Rugby Club.
Welsh Water works on the A472 Nelson Road (In front of Trinty Church Hall)
During week commencing Monday 20th June off-peak temporary traffic signal controls will be in place at this location to allow trial pits to be excavated to confirm the route of a new pipeline. Installation of the new water main, under 24 hour traffic signal control, will then take place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June.
Then, from 21st July Welsh Water will require the reintroduction of the Caerphilly Road southbound closure (as above) and off-peak temporary traffic control on A472 Nelson Road to undertake further work on the water main.
These arrangements have been developed and agreed taking account of the need to minimize the wider impact on peak time traffic flows whilst being mindful of undertaking weekend working in close proximity to local residential properties.
The current A472 one way system between Royal Oak to Cwm Du roundabouts (outside the Dance Centre) will be retained alongside the additional temporary traffic management arrangements outlined above.
