As part of its commitment to safeguarding the communities it serves, Dyfed-Powys Police re-opened Ystradgynlais Police Station on 29 October 2010 following the recent rebuild.
The work has brought the new facility, which is adjacent to the old station, into the 21st Century and is operational in time for the busy winter period.
At the official opening Powys Chief Superintendent Steve Hughson and Inspector Andrew Pitt were joined by the Deputy Chief Constable Jackie Roberts and a variety of local councillors and dignitaries.
The build mirrors work Dyfed-Powys Police has completed across the Force area to bring facilities inline with the organisation’s corporate approach. This investment highlights our commitment to providing an effective and professional police service while ensuring the building is compliant with current Disability Discrimination Act requirements.
Chief Superintendent Steve Hughson said: “I am keen to get all of our stations across the county up to a high standard so that they become professional workplaces for my staff and functional areas for our public to visit. Ystradgynlais is the latest station in the Powys division to benefit from the modernisation programme, which is now a visible representation of our ongoing commitment to the people of the area.”
DCC Jackie Roberts added: “We are looking closely at all our estates in these times of financial challenges. It is important that we make the right decisions regarding our estates to make sure that they are cost effective, fit for purpose and accessible to our communities where the demand exists.”
