Barry Dock RNLI lifeboat crew assist in evacuation of injured tugboat crewman

The mostly volunteer crew of the Barry Dock Lifeboat were called to assist in the evacuation of an injured crewman at 2.30pmtoday  (Tuesday 29 December).

The crewman was injured on the tug that he was working on, sustaining severe finger injuries. The tugboat was met 2 miles off Barry and the casualty was transferred to the Barry Dock RNLI lifeboat where further first aid assistance was given by the fully trained lifeboat crew.

The casualty was brought ashore and was transferred to the waiting Welsh Air Ambulance and then taken to the University Hospital of Wales.
